A little bit about us...
Barley Films was founded in Ireland in 2002 by Barry O'Donoghue to produce entertaining animated films. Our first two short films, "Boys Night Out" (2003) and "Agricultural Report" (2004), have been nominated for Annie awards by ASIFA-Hollywood, the International Animated Film Society. "Agricultural Report" has gone on to win ten international awards and has screened in over one hundred festivals. Other shorts currently on the festival circuit include "The Red Ball" (2007) and "Charred & Feathered" (2007).
There are three more shorts on the way in 2008 - "Colour Contamination" directed by Louise Bagnall, "Pirogues" directed by Alice Bohl and "The Rooster, the Crocodile and the Night Sky" directed by Padraig Fagan.
We are also developing our first animated feature length project "Little Caribou" for production in 2009.
We take our cartoons pretty seriously (hopefully not too seriously!) and with that in mind we're always looking for ways to improve our work as we continue to set high standards for our artists at the studio. Hence our extensive training programmes which you can also read about below.
